We Love Buford Highway: The Crimson Kimono 35mm

Samuel Fuller's famously progressive 1959 noir film stars Japanese-American actor James James Shigeta in his debut role. Filmed in LA’s Little Tokyo a mere 13 years after the unconstitutional devastation of wartime incarceration, this underrated mystery classic documents the resilience of the postwar Japanese-American community while also propelling them forward in American film history. We Love Buford Highway & the Plaza Theatre are proud to present stories of the American immigrant experience: by landmark talents in high fantasy to generational dramas, these works span hope, tragedy, unity and resilience. They represent an urgent and collective testament to the cultural tapestry at stake (and what you should do about it). All screenings support WLBH in their mission to protect our beloved community from unconstitutional attacks.
