Man with a Movie Camera with Live Score By The Nebulous Orchestra
“A real film represents an experimentation in the cinematic communication of visual phenomena...”
So begins Man With a Movie Camera—Dziga Vertov’s 1929 masterwork of Soviet Ukrainian cinema. Featuring groundbreaking effects and utilizing a range of filmmaking techniques that would go on to influence movies as diverse as Inception, Koyaanisqatsi, and Dr. Strange, Man With a Movie Camera remains a singular cinematic adventure.
And now, for one night only at the legendary Plaza Theatre, you can experience the film with a brand new, experimental score performed live by The Nebulous Orchestra—a group of four composers and friends with a shared passion for deep listening and deep thinking. Incorporating elements of musique concrete, electronic music, and contemporary classical, their score is the perfect companion to Vertov’s abstracted and hallucinatory imagery.
So join us on Tuesday, August 26th for an event that promises to be unlike anything you’ve ever seen (or heard) before! Movie starts at 7:30. $20.
